The students of grade 2.b, accompanied by their class teacher, visited the exhibition by Julije Knifer, “No Compromise”, at the Gallery of Fine Arts.<\/p>\n

It is the first retrospective of the body of work of Julije Knifer (Osijek, 1924 – Paris, 2004), an artist whose unconventional approach to the medium of painting marked the second half of the 20th century. The exhibition presents a selection of key works from the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, together with artworks and documentation from the collection and archive of the artist’s family.<\/p>\n

In the art world, Julije Knifer is known for the geometric form of the meander, which he developed in the early 1960s while searching for a formal reduction of all expressive elements, and the students, without compromise, enjoyed both the artist’s early works and his famous meanders.<\/p>\n
