Field trip – PETASON

Our future chefs from 2.a, together with their subject teachers Jelena Barać and Paula Podrug, visited the meat processing plant Petason. Petason is a family company founded in 1991, located in Vranjic in Solin. The company’s core business is the production, processing, packaging and distribution of fresh and frozen pork, veal and beef. A quality, organised approach to business has enabled continuous and steady growth in the market. At the plant, we were welcomed by hard-working technologists who introduced us to the way they work, the production facilities, the products and, of course, the hard-working employees without whom any production would be impossible. The students showed impressive knowledge in identifying the various categories and cuts of meat, and teachers Jelena Barać and Paula Podrug were extremely proud of the interest individuals showed in the technological production process. In modern facilities that follow world standards, the highest-quality raw materials available on the market are processed. The plant also pays great attention to traceability, so that at every stage of the process the origin of the raw materials can be tracked from rearing to the finished product. The plant has implemented a HACCP system, certified by the renowned certification house SGS, which is applied in every part of production.

After the visit to Petason, a visit to the fish market followed. Fortunately, the selection of fish was very good, and the students once again delighted us by showing impressive knowledge in identifying fish, crustaceans, cephalopods and shellfish and sorting them into categories the way they had learned in class. The gathering then continued in a more relaxed atmosphere.
