Mario Todorović, a Croatian national swimming team member, visited our school. Accompanied by our PE teacher Renata Pavić, Mario went round all the classes and shared with the students his experiences of an athlete’s life, discipline, nutrition, and also the sometimes difficult balancing of sporting and school obligations that he too had during his schooling.
Mario told the students about his plans and his desire to succeed in the qualifications for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The students had many questions, especially our athletes, of whom there are more and more in our school’s classrooms every year. Mario was surprised at how many excellent athletes there are at our school and how, by adapting its teaching methods, our school has accommodated them, which greatly helps them cope with their school obligations and coursework.
We wished Mario luck, and during that week he achieved superb results at the Croatian Championship, winning four disciplines and with those results meeting the qualifying standards to compete at the European Championship in London and the Olympics in Brazil.
