9th international festival Taste the Mediterranean

From 6 to 9 October, Split will become the gastronomic centre of the Mediterranean. The international Taste the Mediterranean Festival brings to the city at the foot of Marjan the finest world and domestic chefs whose restaurants have been awarded Michelin stars and Gault&Millau toques.

At the Split restaurants Dvor, Kadena, Kinoteka, Hotel Park, Zora bila and Zrno Soli, chefs from seven countries will be guests and, together with the host chefs, will prepare six-course Mediterranean gala dinners accompanied by appropriate top-quality wines. The exclusive feast for the festival participants at the opening dinner will be prepared by chef Zlatko Marinović Noštromo, and the city Fish Market will be transformed into an elegant restaurant for the occasion.

For the first time during the festival, “Nights of Split Restaurants” will also be held, an event organised by Taste the Mediterranean and the retail chain Tommy, a premium partner of the Taste the Mediterranean Festival, which has recognised the value of this event for presenting and promoting Split, and the gastronomy of Split and Dalmatia. The restaurants included in this programme, 15 of them, will offer the people of Split and tourists a special three-course Mediterranean menu and wine at a popular price on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 October, providing them with a unique wine and gastronomy experience. These are: Atlantida, Bajamonti, Brasserie on 7, Bokeria, Corto Maltese, Dujkin dvor, Fantažija, Konoba Fetivi, Konoba Marul, Mazgoon, Laganini, Pandora Greenbox, Portofino, Sidi bar and Šug. The tastes and aromas of the Mediterranean will be felt at every step in the city, and Split, as an authentic Mediterranean centre with a rich cultural and historical heritage, will also show the wide range of its gastronomic offering: from fine dining to taverns.

The exchange of experiences and networking with other Mediterranean countries, as well as the education of students, university students and professionals, are the main goals of the Taste the Mediterranean Festival. The programme therefore also includes culinary masterclasses by top foreign and domestic chefs, as well as workshops for the students of the Wallner private hospitality school, the Aspira business college and the Jure Kaštelan secondary school in Omiš. The panel discussion “Learn and make your dreams come true” is also intended for young staff who want to invest in their knowledge. Kruno Rozić, head of education of the Raise the Bar Academy, will present how young chefs, waiters and bartenders can win a scholarship from Coca Cola’s Raise the Bar academy to develop their skills at prestigious culinary schools around the world. Pastry chef Tea Mamut, chef Nikolina Putica, chef Deni Srdoč from the Rijeka restaurant Nebo and Tonči Drlje – head of gastronomy at the Aspira college. They will all share their inspiring stories about education in an international environment.
