It is important that the school ensures the existence of a “safe” place to which those who feel like victims can retreat, that it provides a model of nonviolent and positive behavior by its own example (i.e. by the behavior of school employees), respect for students, and that it adequately monitors places that students say are potential sites of attack and intimidation.
