Implementation of the project “The Strongest Link – Volunteer for Yourself, Volunteer for Others” has begun
Through the project “The Strongest Link – Volunteer for Yourself, Volunteer for Others,” the “MI” – Split and “ZvoniMir” associations will strengthen the capacities of 10 teachers from the partner schools in the project – the Wallner Private Secondary School and the King Zvonimir Secondary Vocational School in Knin – in the area of designing and implementing a school volunteer program. The teachers will undergo training in Volunteer Program Management (Activity 1) and acquire knowledge and skills in developing sustainable volunteer programs in their schools (Activity 2).
30 students from the partner schools will take part in the Little School of Activism and Volunteering (Activity 3), an innovative method of working with secondary school students through which, by conducting interactive workshops, they will develop the ability to think critically about the needs of the community and encourage the development of civic and social competencies. Through the organization of two activist campaigns and two volunteer actions (Activity 4), students’ organizational skills and ability to work as a team for the benefit of others will be encouraged. Prejudices will be broken down (especially important for vocational schools and in the multiethnic environment of the town of Knin), an understanding of diversity, inclusiveness and intergenerational cooperation will be developed. Through a joint meeting (Activity 5), which will also be a form of reward and motivation, the participating students will exchange their experiences.
On the other hand, through a study visit of good practice examples (Activity 6), the teachers will develop ideas for the continued implementation of the school volunteer program.
Through the programs of the regional and local volunteer center, the “MI” association and ZvoniMir will continue to run the Little School of Activism and Volunteering in other schools as well, and will continue to mentor the partner schools in implementing the activities planned after the project’s completion, while various professional gatherings will be an opportunity for these schools to promote the volunteer programs they have established.
The project leader is the “MI” – Split association, and the project partners are the “ZvoniMir” association, the Wallner Private Secondary School and the Knin Secondary Vocational School.
Project duration: from 1 September 2022 to 30 November 2023. The total value of the project is EUR 86,860.74.
This activity was carried out through the project “The Strongest Link – Volunteer for Yourself, Volunteer for Others,” supported by the Active Citizens Fund Croatia, with funds from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EEA Grants.”
