Visit to the art gallery: Fedja Klaric – Split’s ’70s

Students of grade 3.b, accompanied by their homeroom teacher, visited the Gallery of Fine Arts and the excellent exhibition by Fedja Klaric.

The photography exhibition Split’s 70s presented 130 black-and-white prints of photographs taken in an exciting decade for the city’s history and for Croatian photography.

Fedja Klaric is a representative of the generation of photojournalists whose poetics and personality, as a welcome freshness in the body of domestic photography, would introduce the genre of live reportage photography and thereby pave the way for the generation of photographers of the next decade. These are photographers whose photojournalistic eye never rests and which, by its sensibility, is present at all the more important events in the ferment of the city’s everyday life, recording all the happenings and social phenomena that inspire and provoke attention. The basic values of reportage photography – objectivity, truthfulness and narrativity – would over time become the features that crucially define the artistic practice of the contemporary era. The students were thrilled with all the moments captured in this Fedja Split memento and gained a new perspective on their Split.
